Our Story
words @ work & play
Liminal Ink is the realisation of an idea sparked by a discussion between Paul & Angela Docherty about blurring the lines between author and publisher. An idea of inclusion, of collaboration. An idea based around some of the work and play we're involved in: writing, publishing, editing, theatre adaptation, proofreading, audiobook production, book cultures research and education.
We're either independent authors who publish, or independent publishers who write. Either way, we're all about words. And books, of course. Words and books... and sometimes music. And the occasional performance on stage and screen. And coffee.
We're based on the Scottish coast where the River Tay meets the North Sea. That's where the liminal part comes from: at the edge of things. Not necessarily 'edgy', but hovering around the blurred line where one thing ends and another begins. Looking out from hills you can see the colour change, where shallow meets deep, fresh meets salt, and cold meets colder. That dark transition is the liminal ink.
We're open to ideas. We've plenty of our own but are also interested in other projects and collaborations.
At Liminal Ink we work with our writers every step of the way on their literary journey, helping to bring out the most from their work. From an idea and rough draft, to editing and publication, Liminal Ink helps our authors produce high quality, interesting and entertaining books.
